A great and closer alternative for those who were thinking about going to Colca Canyon, but simply are unable to do so because of limitations on time. In the equally impressive Chonta Canyon, you will not only be able to appreciate the flight of the Andean Condor in the Chonta Condors Viewpoint, the largest flying bird in the world, but you will be able to witness breathtaking landscapes and a stunning view of the Apurímac River as well. On top of that, it only takes a relatively easy hike of approximately 45 minutes until you reach the viewpoints. So, what are you waiting for? Do not miss this opportunity to enjoy this amazing tour and to appreciate condors in their natural habitat.
Itinerary
CHONTA CONDORS VIEWPOINT 1 DAY
Firstly, at 07:30 am, we will begin by picking up our clients from their hotels in downtown Cusco. Then, we will kick our tour off by driving for approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes to our first stop, which is the archaeological site of Killarumiyoc (considered a temple of the Moon and Fertility). We will have a brief tour of the temple before continuing to our next brief stop in the archaeological site of Tarawasi (Tambo Inca). Then, we will make a pit stop in the Chonta community, where we will enjoy a delicious lunch.
Finally, after having lunch, we will start a hike of approximately 45 minutes up to the Condors viewpoint. Once there, we will observe the flight of the condors for approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes before recharging and hiking our way back down to the Chonta community.
