Itinerary
DAY 1: CUSCO
Reception at the airport and free morning. City Tour: from 13:00 p.m. to 18:00 p.m. It begins with a hotel pick-up, followed by a visit to the Koricancha Temple and a tour of the 4 ruins: Sacsayhuamán, Qenqo, PucaPucara, and Tabomachay, which are 8 km from the city.
The city of Cusco is one of the most visited places in the world. Cusco and its surroundings are home to important archaeological centers, Inca walls, colonial churches built on ruins of the Inca empire, and legendary roads that lead to lost citadels high in the Andes. In addition, the ancient cultures of Peru are kept alive in its people, the colorful costumes, the gastronomy and in the vestiges of the beauty of a glorious past that surrounds the visitors who arrive at the imperial city of the Incas.
Koricancha: We will discover the religious center known as the “Temple of the Sun”, where the impressive engineering used in its construction is highlighted.
Sacsayhuamán: We will be impressed with a fortress of monumental stones and excellent architecture, located 3 km. from the city of Cuzco.
Qenqo: We will continue our tour with a visit to this ceremonial and ritual center, where sacrifices were made and tributes were paid to ancient forces.
PucaPucara: Formerly known as Tambo, it is a lookout post along the Inca trails.
Tambomachay: This ceremonial center of the cult of water is located 7 km from the city of Cusco and is traditionally known as “the place of the waters”. Definitely a must-see place on our tour.
DAY 2: CUSCO – SACRED VALLEY – AGUAS CALIENTES
08:0 – 08:30 am we will be going through the respective hotels of our clients to start this great cultural tour. We will drive for approximately 1 hour to the archaeological complex of Pisac, where our guide will proceed to give us the corresponding explanation of the most important precincts of this place. Then, we will descend to the Pisac Artisan Market, where we will be able to observe handicrafts, fabrics, and jewelry, all related to the Inca culture. Next, we will board our transport towards the town of Urubamba, where we will enjoy a delicious buffet lunch.
We will continue to the archaeological complex of Ollantaytambo, our guide will give us the corresponding explanations of such an important place. Some clients will return to Cusco in the same transport, but we will stay and have some free time in this beautiful town, at the appropriate time we will go down to the station to board our tourist train to Aguas Calientes town. It will be approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes of travel, once in Aguas Calientes, the lodging staff will be waiting for us to take us to our hotel.
DAY 3: AGUAS CALIENTES – MACHU PICCHU – CUSCO
Early in the morning, we will board our bus that will take us to one of the wonders of the modern world, Machu Picchu. It is a trip of approximately 30 minutes, here we will start with our guided tour of approximately 2 hours through the most important circuit of this great citadel. We will have photos with the best and classic views of this great Inca city.
After our guided tour, we will return by bus to Aguas Calientes, free time for lunch (not included), and board our tourist train back to Ollantaytambo, where our transport to Cusco will be waiting for us. Depending on the train schedule, we will be arriving between 6:30 pm to 10:00 pm approximately.
DAY 4: CUSCO – MORAY – CUSCO
Approximately 08:30 am will be the beginning of this great cultural tour to Moray, which at first glance seems like a kind of amphitheater made up of several circular platforms, but in reality, it is an agricultural experimentation center from the Incas time. Next to Moray we have the impressive salt exploitation complex. From Maras, we will visit the salt mines along a bridle path where there are animals carrying sacks of salt. All these sites to visit will be accompanied by a professional tour guide. After the visit, we will take our transport back to the city of Cusco. Arriving approximately at 14:00 pm.
DAY 5: CUSCO – RAINBOW MOUNTAIN – CUSCO
At approximately 4:00 – 4:30 AM we will be passing by your hotels located in the downtown area of Cusco. From here we will head south for approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes to the restaurant where we will enjoy a delicious breakfast. Then we will continue for approximately one more hour to the starting point of the hike. Before this hike, our guide will provide us with walking sticks and will give us the necessary information for the long-awaited tour. The hike is approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes to Rainbow Mountain, if you want, you can add a visit to the Red Valley (ask the seller). It is recommended to be at least two days before in the city of Cusco, for correct acclimatization since the hike is not that complicated but the height makes it super difficult to get there.
After the visit we will return by the same route to where our transport is located, then we will return to the same restaurant where we had breakfast to enjoy a pleasant buffet lunch. A moment of relaxation and we will take our transport back to Cusco. The vehicle will leave us in a place near the Plaza de Armas.
