Hiking around Ausangate, the fifth-highest mountain in all of Peru, is an unforgettable experience. This 1-day tour takes you around the 7 wonderful Ausangate lakes of different shades and colors that surround this highly important guardian Apu (mountain spirit) from ancient times to the present. With an altitude of 20,941 feet above sea level, Ausangate is one of the mountains that belong to the Vilcanota mountain range, in addition to being a regional conservation area with an area of more than 66,514 hectares.
In this region, we will also find the famous Rainbow Mountain of Vinicunca, the Rainbow Mountain of Palccoyo, and the great Red Valley. Normally, this complete route around the Ausangate Mountain takes you between 5 to 6 days, but we have prepared this one-day itinerary so that you can make the best of your time and see the 7 Ausangate lakes and their wonderful landscapes as well.
