Itinerary
DAY 1: CUSCO – CAPULIYOQ – SANTA ROSA
4:00 – 04:30 am we will go through the respective hotels of our clients to start this great adventure. We will drive along the main road Cusco – Abancay, on the way we will take a detour to the town of Cachora where we will arrive in approximately 4 hours. It is here where we will have our breakfast and then continue in our transport for about 30 more minutes to Capuliyoc. It is in this place that we will begin our walk of approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes to Chiquisca. Here, we can have lunch and have some free time before continuing our descent to Rosalina Beach, which is located at 1500 meters above sea level, and where the Apurímac River is, which is the division between 2 departments: Apurímac and Cusco. We will cross the Rosalina bridge then we enter the department of Cusco again, from here we start an ascent to our camp in Santa Rosa (1915 masl).
Hiking time: 5 hours approximately.
DAY 2: SANTA ROSA – MARAMPATA – CHOQUEQUIRAO
After a comforting breakfast, we will continue the ascent, this day we ascend to the community of Marampata (2870msnm). We will continue for 2 more hours until we reach Choquequirao and make a visit for the whole day. We will enjoy a picnic lunch and continue our exploration.
Our camp tonight will be in Choquequirao approximately 25 minutes from the archaeological complex at a height of (2950msnm). We will have the chance to see some condors flying over the mountains.
Hiking time: 5 hours approximately.
DAY 03: CHOQUEQUIRAO – CHOQUEQUIRAO PASS – RIO BLANCO
After a delicious breakfast, we will begin to do some exploration and then continue the hike towards the Choquequirao pass (3270m) and we will pass through the archaeological site of Pinchaunuyoc (2450m). To end this day of hiking, we will descend to the deepest point of the small canyon known as Río Blanco (1900msnm), it is in this place where we will camp.
Here we will have a warm climate therefore there is also the presence of mosquitoes.
Hiking time: 6 hours approximately.
DAY 04: RIO BLANCO – MAIZAL – SAN JUAN PASS – YANAMA
With different altitude changes, this day is considered the hardest but also the most amazing. We start our walk from Río Blanco and we will ascend towards Maizal (3000msnm), here we will take a short break and enjoy the wonderful landscape that surrounds us. We continue the ascent to Paso San Juan (4170m), we delight ourselves with the fascinating view of the mountains, glaciers, and valleys, and we will continue walking to our camp in the small town of Yanama (3530m).

DAY 05: YANAMA – YANAMA PASS – TOTORA PAMPA
We will have breakfast very early and then we will start the trek climbing slowly towards the highest pass in our entire tour, the Yanama Pass (4,670 meters above sea level). We will have an amazing view surrounded by the Nevados de Sacsarayoj, Salkantay, and Pintuyu, among others. After a brief stop in the mountains, we will start our descent towards the Totora Valley where we will have the camp at 3,200 meters above sea level. about.
Hiking time: approximately 8 hours.
DAY 06: TOTORA PAMPA – LA PLAYA
On this beautiful day, we will have the opportunity to meet the local people who are around the camp and who live from agriculture and livestock. After breakfast, we start our hike surrounded by diverse vegetation such as bromeliads, and orchids, and we can also see coffee, papaya, and avocado plantations; We will hike until we reach La Playa (2100msnm) or even if time is enough, we could continue to Lucmabamba (2020msnm).

DAY 07: LA PLAYA – LLACTAPATA – HYDROELECTRIC – AGUAS CALIENTES
After breakfast, we start our walk through the Inca Trail until we reach Llactapata (2650 meters above sea level), an archaeological complex that offers a spectacular view of Machu Picchu surrounded by particular vegetation. After a break to relax, we will go down to the train station in Hidroeléctrica (1950msnm), where we will take the train that will take us to Aguas Calientes (2050msnm). We arrive in Aguas Calientes, we will go to the hotel where we will spend our last night.
Hiking time: approximately 6 hours.
DAY 08: AGUAS CALIENTES – MACHU PICCHU – CUSCO
Early in the morning, we will leave the hotel to take the bus that will take us to the citadel of Machu Picchu, it is a journey of approximately 30 minutes. We will have a guided tour of the archaeological site and then have some time to explore on our own. After the visit, we will take our bus back to Aguas Calientes, to wait for the time of our train back to Ollantaytambo. Once in Ollantaytambo, our transport will be waiting for us to return to Cusco and take us to our hotel.
