The Inti Raymi was the most important celebration of the Inca Empire, dedicated to the Sun God (Inti), the supreme deity of the Incas. It was held every winter solstice in the southern hemisphere (June 24) to give thanks for the harvests and ask for prosperity in the new agricultural cycle. During the ceremony, the Inca and his entourage performed offerings and rituals at Qorikancha, the Main Square, and the Sacsayhuamán esplanade, where dances, chants, and symbolic llama sacrifices took place. It was a festival of great political and religious significance, where all of Tahuantinsuyo participated, reaffirming the unity between the Inca, his people, and the gods.
