We will pick you up from your hotel between 7:15 a.m. and 7:30 a.m. and begin our journey by bus. Along the way, you’ll enjoy a panoramic view of Cusco, Chinchero, and Ollantaytambo. As we ascend to an altitude of 4,330 meters above sea level, we will traverse breathtaking landscapes, including the snow-capped La Verónica mountain range.
After approximately four hours, we will arrive at Abra Málaga (4,315 m.a.s.l.), where our cycling adventure begins. As we descend, we’ll transition from the rugged highlands to a lush, temperate jungle, surrounded by vibrant flora and fauna. Along the way, we’ll visit the fascinating Inca archaeological sites of InkaTambo and Huamanmarka, accompanied by our expert guide.
After approximately three hours of biking, we will reach Santa María (1,200 m.a.s.l.), where we will enjoy a well-deserved lunch at a local restaurant. For those seeking an extra thrill, an optional 2.5-hour rafting experience is available. We will conclude the day with dinner and an overnight stay in a basic hostel.
After enjoying a breakfast featuring fresh juices and regional fruits, we will begin a 7 to 8-hour trek. Our journey will take us along lush trails teeming with vegetation, where we can observe local agricultural practices, including the cultivation and harvest of coffee and coca leaves—the sacred plant of the Incas.
As we walk, we’ll immerse ourselves in the region’s rich biodiversity, encountering medicinal plants, exotic birds, butterflies, and even jungle wildlife such as snakes. We’ll also get a taste of the tropics with a variety of exotic fruits, including mangoes, pineapples, papayas, and avocados. Along the way, we will visit a local family for an authentic cultural experience.
Continuing our trek, we will marvel at stunning waterfalls and walk along a well-preserved section of the ancient Inca Trail. After crossing the Oroya (cable car), we will explore the archaeological site of Inca Jail before reaching the natural thermal baths of Cocalmayo. Here, you’ll have the opportunity to relax and enjoy a soothing soak before heading to the town of Santa Teresa (1,570 m.a.s.l.), where we will have dinner and spend the night.
After enjoying a delicious breakfast featuring local flavors, we’ll set off on a scenic hike to the stunning Mandor Falls. Along the way, we’ll take in breathtaking views of the San Miguel and Putucusi mountains and cross the Vilcanota River using a traditional oroya (cable basket).
As we immerse ourselves in the wild and mystical landscape, we’ll encounter a rich variety of flora and fauna, including vibrant butterflies, iguanas, medicinal plants, and unique insects. Upon reaching Hidroeléctrica, we’ll take a well-deserved break for lunch, followed by a picturesque walk along the railway leading to Aguas Calientes.
Once in town, we’ll enjoy dinner and settle into our selected hostel or hotel for a restful night. For those seeking an extra thrill, there’s an optional zip-lining adventure—nicknamed “Monkey Tail”—offering an exhilarating way to cap off the Inca Jungle trek before continuing our journey to Machu Picchu Pueblo.
At dawn, we’ll either walk or take the first bus up to Machu Picchu, arriving early to witness the breathtaking sunrise over this mystical site—before the crowds from Cusco arrive. Immerse yourself in the serenity of the Lost City of the Incas on a 2.5-hour guided tour, exploring its fascinating history and iconic landmarks.
After the tour, you’ll have free time to wander the citadel at your own pace or hike Huayna Picchu Mountain, where you’ll be rewarded with panoramic views of Machu Picchu and the surrounding valleys and peaks. If you choose, you can also visit the Temple of the Moon and the Inca Bridge, two hidden gems within the site.
In the afternoon, we’ll take a bus down to Machu Picchu Pueblo (formerly known as Aguas Calientes), then board a train back to Ollantaytambo, where a bus will be waiting to take us back to Cusco.
