South of the Cusco region, in the province of Quispicanchis, under the imposing Ausangate snow-capped peak, we find the so-called “7 Lakes of Ausangate Circuit,” which is fed by the meltwater of this immense glacier, one of the highest in Peru (6,384 meters above sea level). The tour offers a trekking and nature experience where we will visit seven lakes with turquoise and clear waters. During the approximately 4 to 5-hour trek, we will make stops at strategic points to capture the best photographs and absorb the energy of the Peruvian Andes. You will also encounter South American camelids such as llamas and alpacas, as well as birds native to the region. If you are a nature lover and enjoy trekking, this experience is perfect for you.
We begin the tour by picking you up from your hotel in Cusco at approximately 4:30 a.m. From there, we will take a journey of about 3 hours in a tourist vehicle to the community of Pacchanta, where we will enjoy a delicious breakfast. From here, we start a hike through the high mountain landscapes, lasting approximately 4 to 5 hours, heading towards the 7 Ausangate lagoons, known as: Azulcocha, Pucacocha, Alqacocha, Otorongo, Qomercocha, Patacocha, and Huchuy Phinaya. Each lagoon offers unique colors and spectacular views of the Ausangate snow-capped mountain.
Along the way, we will also observe the snow-capped peaks surrounding the landscape, including the Ausangate (6,834 meters), La Mariposa (5,842 meters), and Jampa (5,500 meters), among others. We then descend towards the community of Pacchanta for lunch, after which we have the option to relax in the natural thermal baths of Pacchanta, known for their healing properties.
We conclude the service with transportation back to Cusco, arriving at approximately 6:00 p.m.
