We begin our experience at the renowned Larco Museum, located in the traditional district of Pueblo Libre. This cultural gem houses the most impressive private collection of pre-Columbian art in Peru, highlighting its exhibition of gold, silver, and erotic ceramic pieces. Located in a majestic 18th-century viceregal mansion, the museum is not only a testament to pre-Hispanic history but has also been recognized as one of the 25 best museums in the world.
We will transfer to the historic center of the capital, where the colonial past comes to life. Lima was the center of the Spanish colony in South America during the 16th century and, due to its architectural and historical value, has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Here, we will walk through its emblematic streets, admiring imposing buildings such as the Plaza Mayor, surrounded by historic buildings. The Cathedral of Lima, an architectural jewel that preserves centuries of history. The Convent of Santo Domingo, one of the best-preserved from the colonial era, where the relics of the Peruvian saints Santa Rosa de Lima, San Martín de Porres, and San Juan Macías rest. Also, we will climb its tower to enjoy an impressive panoramic view of the city.
If time permits, we will witness the changing of the guard at the Government Palace, a traditional spectacle that is part of Peru’s living history. We will enjoy a special moment trying a traditional Lima dessert, a delicious way to learn about the city’s gastronomic culture.
To conclude our tour, you will have the option to return to your hotel or, if you prefer, stay at the Larcomar Shopping Center, located on the cliffs of Miraflores, from where you can enjoy a spectacular view of the Pacific Ocean.
