If you’re short on time or simply want to experience the magic of Machu Picchu without hiking, this tour is the perfect choice. Travel comfortably by train from Cusco, soaking in the stunning Andean landscapes along the way. Once you arrive, explore the awe-inspiring “New Wonder of the Modern World,” perched at 2,450 meters above sea level. First brought to international attention by American explorer Hiram Bingham in 1911, Machu Picchu remains the most iconic and visited archaeological site in all of South America.
The excursion starts very early, picking you up from the hotel at approximately 4:00 AM (city center). From there, we will head in a tourist vehicle to the train station for a captivating three-and-a-half-hour journey to the Historic Sanctuary of Machu Picchu, also known as the “Lost City of the Incas” and a New Wonder of the Modern World.
Arrival at Machu Picchu Pueblo station (formerly Aguas Calientes, at 2,000 meters above sea level). We will immediately board a bus that will take you to Machu Picchu, a 30-minute journey along a zigzagging road. Once at Machu Picchu, you will take a guided tour of approximately two hours, during which you will visit the most important sites of the Inca citadel, depending on the circuit assigned to you. These sites may include the Main Square, the Circular Tower, the Sacred Solar Clock, the royal quarters, the Temple of the Three Windows, and the cemeteries. You will have the opportunity to take photos throughout the tour of the citadel. After the tour, you will board the bus back to Machu Picchu Pueblo to have lunch before boarding your return train.
In the afternoon, you will board the train heading to the town of Ollantaytambo, where a tourist vehicle will be waiting to take you back to the city of Cusco.
