Travelers can reach Ollantaytambo by bus or private transportation. The scenic train journey from Cusco offers breathtaking views of the Andean landscape, making it a preferred choice for many visitors. Cars leaving daily from Cusco to Ollantaytambo can be found on the street Pavitos. Alternatively, you can also buy a train ticket that includes a private transportation from Cusco.

Cusco Train Stations: Poroy

Where is it located?

Poroy, another vital stop on the way to Machu Picchu, is situated closer to Cusco, approximately 20 minutes away from the city center. Its proximity makes it a convenient departure point for those with limited travel time or for those who do not wish to travel to Ollantaytambo.

How to get there?

Poroy Station exclusively serves customers of PeruRail and offers all of the previously mentioned car-classes. While it may not be as scenic as Ollantaytambo, it still provides an immersive experience on the way to the ancient Incan city of Machu Picchu.

Cusco Train Stations: Wanchaq

Where is it located?

Wanchaq Station is located right in Cusco, just a few minutes from Avenida.El Sol. While in this station one can buy tickets from PeruRail for either of the routes mentioned above, there is no line directly from this station to Machu Picchu.

How to get there?

As it is within Cusco, Wanchaq Station is easily reachable by taxi, public transportation (combis), or even on foot, depending on your location within the city.’

Services offered

Again, from this station you cannot take a train directly to Machu Picchu. Nevertheless, from this station one can take trains to either Arequipa or Puno on premium lines.

Cusco Train Stations: Buying Tickets
