Cusco, the “Navel of the World” is an inexhaustible source of tourist attractions and destinations for thousands of tourists. In this tour we present another of the interesting tourist circuits of the imperial city of the Incas, consisting of the sites of Tipón, Pikillacta and Andahuaylillas. This strange conjunction of pre-Hispanic and Spanish remains is evidence of the cultural duality of the ancient capital of the Inca empire. Type: It is an archaeological group where we can appreciate the mastery of hydraulic engineering in the time of the Incas. In Tipón we appreciate an exceptional irrigation system, with vertical and horizontal irrigation channels on stepped terraces, where water flows from the subsoil to a source from which it is distributed to the aforementioned channels. Tipón was an important agricultural production center. Today, the land continues to bear fruit in the platform system of this charming place.
Piquillaqta:We continue with this archaeological center located 18 km southeast of the imperial city of Cusco, which dates back to before the Inca civilization. Piquillaqta, baptized at the end of the colony with this Quechua term that means “flea town”, is characterized by its levels of stone, lime and plaster construction. In this archaeological center, its streets that form quadrants, double-story buildings with stuccoed walls and paved floors stand out. Initially Piquillaqta was a satellite city of the Wari (6th to 13th centuries AD), an important civilization prior to the empire of the children of the Sun; In addition, it is said that at one time it housed the famous Tiahuanaco culture.
Andahuaylillas: To the south of the city of Cusco is Andahuaylillas, a town that we will reach after a 45-minute trip aboard a bus. This traditional town houses in its main square a proud colonial temple with admirable paintings from the Cusco school, known as “The Sistine Chapel of America” for the beautiful baroque painting on the ceiling and walls.
Huasao: Located southeast of the city of Cusco, it is known as “The Town of the Witches” and has an approximate population of 3,000 inhabitants. Huasao is a small town that has a Jesuit church with a mobile Christ; Among its streets are many witches and healers who offer reading of the coca leaf, payments to the land and other divination, spiritual and health techniques. These rituals collect ancient Andean beliefs, symbols and practices of the Catholic religion.
The excursion ends by returning to the city of Cusco, arrival at 3:00 p.m. and transfer to your hotel.
