Huchuy Qosqo is an ancient Inca archaeological site located above the Sacred Valley, known for its scenic views, agricultural terraces, and well-preserved ruins. It offers a unique experience away from the crowds, combining history, nature, and adventure.
The hike typically takes around 6 to 7 hours, depending on the pace. It starts early in the morning and ends in the late afternoon, covering approximately 12 kilometers (7.5 miles).
It’s considered a moderate trek. While the trail doesn’t have extreme altitudes like other treks, you will still walk at elevations of up to 4,200 meters (13,780 ft), so some acclimatization is recommended.
You should bring:
Comfortable hiking shoes
Sunscreen and hat
Water and snacks
Rain jacket (weather can change quickly)
Camera and some cash for entrance or tips
Yes, there is usually a small entrance fee for the archaeological site, which may or may not be included in your tour. It’s best to check with your tour provider in advance.
