A good alternative to explore the wonderful landscapes of the city of Cusco. This route will begin with a hike to the archaeological site of Huchuy Qosqo, along the way you will be able to appreciate the true Inca Trail used since ancient times. The first day’s trek ends in the town of Lamay, and then we go by car to Ollantaytambo to continue with the short Inca Trail. Join this adventure and enjoy beautiful landscapes.

  • 7:00 AM – Pick-up from your hotel in Cusco.
  • Transfer in tourist transportation to the village of Tambomachay, where the hike begins.
  • We start the trek from Tambomachay, enjoying beautiful Andean landscapes, flora, and fauna. Along the way, we will see the ruins of Huchuy Qosqo, which include agricultural terraces, buildings, temples, and pre-Inca trails.
  • Visit to the archaeological site of Huchuy Qosqo, where we will explore the history of the site, its connection with the Incas, and its strategic importance.
  • We will enjoy a typical lunch on-site or in a nearby community.
  • In the afternoon, descent to the village of Lamay in the Sacred Valley, where we will take transportation back to Cusco.
  • Return to Cusco, arriving around 5:00 PM.

Huchuy Qosqo is an ancient Inca archaeological site located above the Sacred Valley, known for its scenic views, agricultural terraces, and well-preserved ruins. It offers a unique experience away from the crowds, combining history, nature, and adventure.

The hike typically takes around 6 to 7 hours, depending on the pace. It starts early in the morning and ends in the late afternoon, covering approximately 12 kilometers (7.5 miles).

It’s considered a moderate trek. While the trail doesn’t have extreme altitudes like other treks, you will still walk at elevations of up to 4,200 meters (13,780 ft), so some acclimatization is recommended.

You should bring:

  • Comfortable hiking shoes

  • Sunscreen and hat

  • Water and snacks

  • Rain jacket (weather can change quickly)

  • Camera and some cash for entrance or tips

Yes, there is usually a small entrance fee for the archaeological site, which may or may not be included in your tour. It’s best to check with your tour provider in advance.
