We begin the tour with pick-up from your hotel in Puno at 08:00 hrs to transfer to the port. From there, we will board a motorized boat bound for the Floating Islands of the Uros, a set of artificial islands built with totora reeds. Here, we will learn about their fascinating history, their way of life, the daily activities of their inhabitants, and the incredible technique with which they have built their floating islands. We will visit these beautiful islands for approximately 1 hour. Then, we will continue the journey towards Amantaní, where we will be greeted by local families who will provide us with a typical lunch with fresh ingredients from the region. In the afternoon, we will take a walk to the ceremonial temples of Pachatata and Pachamama, from where we will enjoy impressive views of Lake Titicaca. At nightfall, we will share a family dinner, and if weather conditions permit, we will participate in a Peña show with traditional music and dances of the island. The night will be an authentic experience, as we will stay in local homes, experiencing firsthand the culture and hospitality of the Amantaní people.
After a homemade breakfast with our host family, we will say goodbye and depart for Taquile Island. Here, we will take a walk of approximately 35 minutes (adjustable according to the group) to learn about its history, traditions, and the exceptional textile skills of its inhabitants, considered Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO. Before returning, we will enjoy a typical lunch prepared by the inhabitants of the island, with fresh and natural ingredients. Afterwards, we will take the boat back to Puno, arriving in the city in the afternoon, where our tour ends.
