



Enjoy a wonderful stay in a part of our Peruvian jungle. Eco Lodge is not only a place to rest but also to learn since we have several guides specialized in the flora and fauna found in this wonderful part of the jungle of Puerto Maldonado. You can travel to Puerto Maldonado from Lima or from Cusco. The best thing to do to save time is to go by flight since the buses take too long.
Itinerary
DAY 1: PUERTO MALDONADO – LODGE
Arrival at Puerto Maldonado airport. Then, we will start our program with a bus tour of the city.
Then, we will go to Puerto Capitanía, to embark on a motorized boat, and we will navigate the Bajo Madre de Dios River. During the trip, we will enter a fascinating natural environment, with luck we will observe Ronsocos, Turtles, Herons, Alligators and other species of animals.
At our lodge, you will be greeted with delicious Amazonian tropical fruit nectar, and taken to your comfortable room (bungalow). A succulent lunch awaits you in our cozy dining room with a rustic design.
CAIMAN COCHA
After lunch, you will be driven by our specialized guide through a conveniently signposted interpretive trail to Cocha Caimán, a small lagoon with an abundant presence of specimens of black caiman (Melanosuchus niger) and white caiman (Caiman crocodilus).
At the end of the afternoon, back at the lodge and from the river bank, you will witness the spectacular sunset in the Amazon, an experience full of colors in welcoming ranges and intensities.
In the evening, a delicious dinner will await you, and you will have free time to share unforgettable moments in our bar, equipped with an excellent table games room and stocked with all the drinks you can imagine.
DAY 02: LODGE – APU VICTOR – MONKEY ISLAND – LODGE
A succulent breakfast will provide you with the necessary energy for a morning full of new experiences.
APU VÍCTOR LAKE: After breakfast, we will start a walk towards the deep forest, following prepared trails, conveniently preserved and signposted. On the way, we will cross the riparian forest, and then we will descend to floodplain forests, to climb again to hill forests. During the journey, we will witness the most varied range of species of flora and fauna in the wild.
Along the way, you will identify species of fruit, forest, and medicinal trees that sustain animal and human populations in the Amazon forests. Among these stand out the aguaje, the mahogany, the chestnut, the catahua, the cedar, the cetico, the copaiba, the shihuahuaco.
With luck and in silence, you will be able to spot larger mammals, such as the sachavaca and the white-lipped peccary; rodents such as the giant otter, the majas, the capybara and the armadillo; primates such as the howler monkey and the lion puffin, black martin or capuchin; reptiles such as the iguana and the jergón; amphibians such as the toad and birds such as the mountain turkey, the partridge, the golden parakeet and the blue, yellow and red macaw.
In the rain forest you will appreciate insects such as butterflies (Lepidoptera), beetles (Coleoptera), crickets, cicadas, ants, centipedes and millipedes of various species.
We arrive at the majestic Lake Apu Víctor surrounded by immense swamps and gigantic trees. Amazon viewpoint (huge observation platform), from which you will enjoy a panoramic view over the lake, observing Parrots, Macaws, Toucans, Camungos, Shanshos, Herons and other animals such as Caimans, Turtles, etc.
Varieties of fish enter Lake Apu Víctor with the floods of the rainy season (increasing). In addition, there are other species of fauna associated with the lake, such as the motelo, the matamata, the charapita de aguajal, the friar, the chozna, the red deer, the añuje and the giant otters of the Amazon Rainforest.
Back at the lodge, a refreshing lunch will await you.
MONKEY ISLAND
In the afternoon, accompanied by our guide, we will visit the Isla de los Monos, located a few minutes from the lodge in the heart of the Madre de Dios River. This island shows an enormous variety of exuberant flora and is home to numerous specimens of primates, such as the maquisapa, the capuchin and the puffin and lion. In addition to other species of small mammals such as the coati (Nasua), the squirrel and a huge variety of colorful birds.
Finally we will complete our visit to the island, enjoying the sunset, with the most impressive sunset in the jungle.
Back at the lodge, you can enjoy an exquisite farewell dinner.
DAY 3: LODGE – PUERTO MALDONADO
After a restful night of rest, our breakfast awaits you in our dining room before returning to Puerto Maldonado, in time for you to take your flight back to Lima or any other destination.
