LOST COCHA
After breakfast, we will start an adventure through the virgin forest, accompanied by our guide, we will take a walk into the deep forest: we will travel prepared trails of our very well preserved interpretive circuit. Along the way, we will cross temporary watercourses called pipes, through bridges in very good condition and we will witness the widest range of species of flora and fauna in the wild. We will get to know a great variety of ornamental plants of incomparable beauty.
On the way to the Lost Cocha, we will identify fruit, forest and medicinal trees that support the animal populations in the Amazon forests.
With luck, we will be able to spot larger mammals such as the jaguar or otorongo, the sachavaca and the huangana; rodents such as the giant otter, the capybara, the majaz and the armadillo; primates such as the howler monkey and the puffin; reptiles such as the iguana and the jergón; amphibians such as the toad and birds such as the bush turkey, the partridge, the golden parakeet and the red, blue and yellow macaw.
The rivers leave in their wake systems of wetlands, lakes, lakes and meanders, such as the spectacular Cocha Perdida.
Wetlands play an ecological role of great importance since they represent a substantial biological focus on endemic species. They are a refuge for mammals. These aguajales make up seventy percent of the area that Eco Amazonía Lodge protects and restores.
The presence of the aguaje is very important for the Amazonian ethnic groups. It is a mystery plant. Aguaje is the mother of the forest or tree of life.
The swamp houses jealous guardians such as the feline jaguar considered the son of the swamp, the anaconda, the largest snake in the world, the owl that sees everything from its dwelling on top of its glass to provide relief to all ills, and the alligator black guardian who punishes whoever dares to knock down the female aguajes.
Once in the Lost Cocha, we will ascend to a huge observation platform. From this viewpoint, you will appreciate the enormous area that covers this magical place where you can see two types of aguajales: dense and mixed.
Then we will take a pleasant walk around the Lost Cocha and if luck is on your side, you will be able to spot the “giant otter” Pteronurabrasiliensis, the largest of its kind and one of the most impressive animals in the Amazon.
We will return to the lodge to enjoy a delicious lunch.
MONKEY ISLAND
In the afternoon, accompanied by our guide, we will visit the Isla de los Monos, located a few minutes from the lodge in the heart of the Madre de Dios River. This island shows an enormous variety of exuberant flora and is home to numerous specimens of primates, such as the maquisapa, the capuchin and the puffin and lion. In addition to other species of small mammals such as the coati (Nasua), the squirrel, and a huge variety of colorful birds.
Finally, we will complete our visit to the island, enjoying the sunset, the most impressive sunset in the jungle.
Back at the lodge, you can enjoy an exquisite farewell dinner.
