“Machu Picchu” also called the Old Mountain, now “a New Wonder of the Modern World” and also named a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is located at an altitude of 2450 metres and was discovered by Hiram Bingham in 1911. Since then, it is the most important archaeological site and most visited place in South America.

“Machu Picchu” is considered worldwide as a masterpiece of architecture and engineering. The complex is clearly divided into two big areas: the agricultural zone, made up of sets of agricultural terraces, which is located in the south part; and the urban areas, where the occupants lived and where also the main religious and civil activities took place. We will pick you up very early (4 am) at your hotel to transfer you to the train station, where you board the train for a three and a half hours journey to reach the historic sanctuary of Machu Picchu, also known as the “Lost City of the Incas”, today “a New Wonder of the Modern World”. When we arrive at the train station of “Machu Picchu Town” (formerly “Aguas Calientes” at an altitude of 2000 m), we immediately board the bus, which takes us, driving for about 30 minutes on a zigzag path, directly to the incredible Machu Picchu. The excursion includes a guided tour for abou 2 hours in the citadel, visiting the most important sites like Main Plaza, the Circular Tower, The Sacred Solar Clock, the Royal Quaters, the Temple of the Three Windows and various cemeteries. Then we have free time to stroll around the complex, to take picture or make a movie. Afterwards we return to “Machu Picchu Town” to take our lunch before boarding on the train back.

In the late afternoon, around 18:00 hrs, we are going on the train bringing us to Ollantaytambo. There a bus is waiting for us at the train station to transfer us back to the city of Cusco, where we are supposed to arrive approximately at 22:30 hrs.seu hotel em Cusco.
