Tour Details

Cusco, Cuzco or Qosqo in quechua, means “Navel”, a city founded by the Incas. It was their capital and also the geographical, political, strategical and military center of the Inca Empire.

Cusco’s stunning landscape is characterized by a blue sky with withe clouds, accompanied by majestic mountains. Due to the Incas and the colonial architectural heritage, this place is definitely unique in the world.

The first day of this tour, we will have a closer look between the cobble stones of the city, like in Koricancha and the Inca Palace Roca or in the colonial buildings as in the barroque-styled cathedral and the Jesuit Church (Iglesia de la Compañia). Just ten minutes from the city there raise the massive walls of the fortress of Sacsayhuamán, and a few kilometres more there are the archaeological sites of Qenko, Pukapukara and Tambomachay, all of them built entirely of stone.

On the second day, the most important of all, we will get to know the majestic Machu Picchu from Cusco City. The third day is the transfer from the hotel to the airport.

Machu Picchu, “New Wonder of the Modern World”, located at 2.450 metres, was discovered by the American explorer Hiram Bingham in 1911. Since then, it is the most important and most visited archaeological site in South America. We will pick you up very early at your hotel (at 5am) to drive you with our private transport to the train station, from where you will take a journey for three and a half hours to the Historic Sanctuary of Machu Picchu, also known as the “Lost City of the Incas”, today “a New Wonder of the Modern World”. When we arrive at the train station of “Machu Picchu Town” (formerly “Aguas Calientes”, located at 2000 meters), we will immediately board our bus which takes us on a zigzag street (30 minutes) to the incredible Machu Picchu. The tour includes a guided tour through the citadel for approximately two hours, visiting the most important sites like the Main Plaza, the Circular Tower, the Sacred Solar Clock, the Royal Quarters, the Temple of the Three Windows and the cemeteries.

Afterwards there is free time to stroll around the citadel, taking pictures (or films). Then we return to “Machu Picchu Town” to take our lunch, before getting on the train back.
